Malaysia has rejected the unilateral ceasefire call by so-called Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III after he ordered his armed followers to illegally entered Malaysia and started the fight by killing two Malaysian police on Friday and another six the next day; please click here.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said:
“Sulu militants must lay down arms and surrender unconditionally and operations against them will go on as long as it takes,”
I, like most Malaysian, agree with Datuk Seri Najib.
I just cannot understand how Jamalul Kiram III thinks about the whole incident.
Does he expect Malaysia to agree to a ceasefire whenever he feels like it after what he did?
Malaysia is a sovereign country and we have our own constitution and laws that must be respected by everybody, even the foreigners when they are in our lands.
If Jamalul Kiram III wants to stop the fight that he started, he must order his men to drop their weapons, surrender unconditionally and face the law of our country.

We are living in the modern world where we have to follow the laws and cannot do things as we wish.
This is not a computer game.
If we play computer games like Age Of Empires III The Asian Dynasties, and play against the computer, we can just push the ceasefire button when we are almost defeated and everyone will stop attacking so that we could run back to our own colony and re-attack when we are stronger and have more armies; because it is only a game.
But the Lahad Datu incident is not a game, so he can’t just ask for a ceasefire when ever he wishes after he ordered his men to come to our country illegally with firearms and started shooting at our security forces after the government gave them more than two weeks to solve the matter through discussions.
We must be responsible and sensible if we want to be a leader.
I am grateful Malaysia has a good King and good Sultans who care about the people.
