To be precised, the shootings were in Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu in Sabah.

It started when a group of Filipino who claimed to be the followers of the sultan of Sulu came for their homes in the southern Philippines to Sabah in East Malaysia on February 14, 2013.

With weapons in their hands, they landed their boat in Lahad Datu, claiming that it is part of their territories.

But  before they could move further, the Malaysian police surrounded them and they were confined to an area in Kampung Tanduo.

The Malaysian government tried to talk to them and gave them time to leave Sabah in peace but they did not do as they were told.

Then, today the Sulu soldiers shot a mortar toward the Malaysian police and killed two police officers while three others were injured.

National News Agency of Malaysia (BERNAMA) reported that Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Friday said that the group of armed intruders in Lahad Datu, Sabah had fired shots first at Malaysian security forces after they advanced 1.5 kilometres from where they camped earlier.

I’m very sad and sorry for their families especially the inspector’s children who were still very young.

And I am also sad when there were people who tried to blame the Malaysian security forces as the ones who started the shootings and blamed the Malaysian government for the incident.
