An Amtrak train headed to New York City from Washington, D.C. derailed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania killing at least five people shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

It was a very bad accident where all the seven cars of Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 188 derailed and came off the tracks near the 2000 block of Wheatsheaf Lane.

The incident happened in an area known as Frankford Junction.

65 people were reportedly hurt and six of them are in critical condition.

Victims were taken to Temple University Hospital, Aria Health-Frankford, Hahnemann University Hospital and the Albert Einstein Medical Center.

AP reported that, “Mayor Michael Nutter, who confirmed the deaths, said the scene was horrific and not all the more than 240 people on the train had been accounted for”.

The mayor said the incident was a”Level 3 mass casualty event”.

It was reported that the train was carrying 238 passengers and 5 crew members.

NBC reported that, “the incident required a 4-alarm response, including 120 firefighters and 200 police officers”.

The Amtrak train service between New York City and Philadelphia was suspended after the crash.

Lightning hit the iconic Sydney Tower in the heart of the city ‘creating a shower of sparks and plunging the tower into darkness.’

Severe storm that tore through Sydney on Tuesday night caused flooding in some part of the city.

The storm brought strong wind that were near the top end of a category 2 cyclone.

The Sunday Morning Herald reported that waves off Sydney also reached heights “in excess of eight metres” on Wednesday morning.

A huge billboard measuring approximately 6m by 18m, fell from the fifth floor of Krystal Point in Bayan Baru, Penang during a severe thunderstorm at about 7.00 p.m. Friday evening.

The fallen billboard crushed a Perodua Myvi, a Perodua Kelisa, a BMW and a Citroen .

There were no casualties reported.

Strong winds from Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun) uprooted a decades-old tree which fell on a red car.

Typhoon Rammasun is the first major typhoon of the season that hit the Philippines.

Locally as “Glenda”, the category 3 hurricane made landfall near Legazpi City on Tuesday evening.

At least 13 people were killed across the country.

Ferocious wind gusts approaching 200 kilometres (120 miles) an hour, tore roofs off houses, overturned cars and ripped down electricity lines in Manila, as well as remote fishing villages hundreds of kilometres away.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War.

Rare black and white images have captured life on the trenches during World War One.

A Viscount in the Armoured Cavalry Branch of the French Army left behind a collection of hundreds of glass plates taken during WWI that have never before been published.

The images, by an unknown photographer, shines a light on the daily lives of soldiers in the trenches.
