In Photos: 2015 Geneva International Motor Show

This high-end version of the Model S is no less than the world’s highest-performance electric car, as its combined output of 700hp takes it to a top speed of 250km/h and from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

The 2015 Geneva International Motor Show is open from March 5, 2015 to March 15, 2015.

This great motor show is held at the Palexpo Arena in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Italian manufacturer unveiled its latest supercar coupe, the 488 GTB, powered by a turbocharged V8 for a top speed of over 330km/h. To be sold for €220,000 (around $241,300), the model goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3 seconds and from 0 to 200km/h in just 8.3 seconds.

The latest Lamborghini Aventador is not only more powerful but also lighter than its predecessor. As a result, the 750hp V12 enables top speeds of up to 350km/h and 0 to 100km/h acceleration in less than 3 seconds. Of course, this kind of performance comes at a price: over €320,000 (around $351,100).

Aston Martin’s new supercar has a chassis made primarily of carbon fiber and a 7-liter V12 engine with around 800hp, making it the most powerful vehicle in the brand’s history. Each of the 24 models to be produced will have a starting price of €2.5 million (around $2.7 million).

Among the most impressive cars in Geneva this week, the Koenigsegg Regera boasts a combined output of 1500hp (from three electric motors and a turbocharged V8) and 0 to 400km/h acceleration in just 20 seconds. This superlative model is produced in a limited edition of just 80 units.

McLaren staged the world premiere of its 675 LT in Geneva. As indicated by the name, the supercar has a 675hp V8 engine, which takes it from 0 to 100km/h in under 3 seconds. A total of 500 675 LTs will be produced and sold for over €300,000 each (around $329,100).

Making its European debut in Geneva, the Ford GT made a strong impression thanks to its twin turbo V6 EcoBoost with over 600hp, which is based on an engine developed for the race track. The supercar is slated to go on sale worldwide in 2016.

The next-generation Audi R8 has a 610hp V10, which enables top speeds of up to 330km/h and 0 to 100km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds. The supercar also stands out for its laser headlights, available as an option. Audi also offers an electric version, the R8 e-tron.

What Is Universal Periodic Review

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a mechanism of the Human Rights Council (HRC) which is an intergovernmental body made up of 47 states, to review how far the members of the United Nations follow the Human Rights. (All About The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) by SUHAKAM)

The UPR reviews all 192 United Nations (UN) Member States over a four-year cycle. The process consists of several steps. The review takes place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Objectives:

1. Improvement of human rights of the people.
2. How far does the state fulfil the obligations and commitments of human rights, assessment of positive development and problems that are faced by the States in fulfilling the obligations.
3. Enhance the State’s capacity and technical assistance, in consultation with, and with the consent of, the State concerned.
4. Sharing the best practice of human rights among States and other stakeholders.
5. Support for cooperation in promotion and protecting of human rights.
6. Encourage full cooperation and engagement with the HRC, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and other human rights bodies.

Recommendations:

Recommendations are the final results of the UPR
process, and are included in the final report. Although the recommendations are
not binding, they act as a set of commitments by the State to improve the protection
and promotion of human rights in their country. These recommendations will
serve as benchmarks to the State, on what it must achieve until the next UPR
cycle.

United Nations Human Rights Council’s UPR

UPR stands for Universal Periodic Review. It is a process to review how far all the countries that are members of the United Nations follow the demands made by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

This year, our country, Malaysia will be reviewed by UNHRC. I think Malaysia is a very peaceful and fair country where all minority races are not being discriminated by our government.

Must all the United Nations members agree to all of the UNHRC demands? I feel that not every country need to be the same as other countries and follows the same universal rules because every country and its citizen is unique and has different needs and values.

For example, Malaysia is an Islamic country while Roman Catholicism is the official religion of Monaco and Argentina. So, they are all different and each country has different social values and ways of live.

So, is it fair if we want all the countries in this world to follow a set of universal rules and values agreed by other countries whose needs and values are different? I think that not only it is wrong, in fact, it is against the human rights to force a country to accept any value or rule which is not suitable for the local people of the country, against their social values, religions or can cause lots of problems to the country. And it is not right to force a country to agree on something that is actually against their Constitutions and rules of laws.
