Harvey: Before And After Photos Of Catastrophic Houston Flood

Hurricane Harvey which made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Texas on August 25, caused “epic and catastrophic” flooding especially in Houston and some other parts of Texas.

Floodwaters are expected to rise further in the inundated Houston as the flood situation in Texas is expected to worsen in the coming days.

NBC Los Angeles – Winter storms unleashed days of downpours on California. These aerial images show the extent of the flooding and effects of the unrelenting winter storms throughout the state, including San Jose, where 14,000 people were evacuated after neighborhoods were inundated with water. Several more weeks remain in California’s wet season, which brings the potential for more damage.

More than 100,000 people have had to evacuate from their homes in the bordering areas of Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina due to severe flooding in the wake of heavy summer rains brought on by El Niño, authorities said on Saturday.

In the worse affected country, Paraguay, around 90,000 people in the area around the capital city of Asuncion have been evacuated, the municipal Emergencies Office said. Many are poor families living in precarious housing along the banks of the River Paraguay. (Reuters)

Sky News reported,”Villagers in the Lake District describe the floodwaters as a “tsunami” that washed boulders weighing up to a tonne into the area.”

Storm Desmond: Severe Flooding In Cumbria

Police have declared a major incident in Cumbria after heavy rain and strong wind up to 80mph brought by Storm Desmond caused severe flooding in Cumbria.

Cumbria is amongst the worst affected area in England by the storm where the River Greta near Keswick and the River Eden at Appleby overflowed, despite glass flood defences installed.

The village of Shap in Cumbria received the highest rainfall which is 7in (178.2mm) in 24 hours until 7pm on Saturday.

The average rainfall for Cumbria for December is 5.75in (146.1mm).

Some rivers in the area reached their highest ever recorded levels; and some road and highways were flooded.

The village of Braithwaite was cut off, after the main bridge connecting it to the rest of the county was swept away by the swollen river.

In Scotland, people were evacuated in Hawick after the River Teviot burst its banks and the Nith was flooded in Dumfries.

More than 80 flood warnings are in place around the UK, particularly Scotland, northern England, Wales and the Midlands.

Two days of fresh rains had caused devastating flood in the southern Indian city of Chennai (Madras).

BBC reported that at least 188 people are now known to have died in floods in Tamil Nadu state since last month.

The flood waters entered the runway and tarmac areas of the Chennai Airport on Tuesday evening causing flights to and out of Chennai to be cancelled and the airport is closed.

It was reported that nearly 700 people are stranded at the airport and efforts are underway to evacuate them.

Over 50 trains have either been cancelled or diverted due to flooding of rail tracks at several places.

Flooded Sungai Besi Highway, Nov 30, 2015 – Photos And Video

Heavy rain has caused flash flood where the Sungai Besi highway became inundated with 2 feet of water causing a traffic standstill.

New Strait Times reported that  by 6.30p.m. exit 902 heading to Balakong, Sg Long and Semenyih is accessible to traffic while the route heading to MRR2 was still cut off.

In Photos: Ferocious Storm Floods California

The West Coast of the United States is being hit by one of the strongest storm in years bringing heavy rain that flooded some parts of California.

In Oregon, at least two people were reportedly killed due to the storm.

The ferocious storm also produced very strong winds across Northern California, including hurricane force wind of 78 mph near Lake Tahoe and over 100 mph in many spots in the mountains.

According to the National Weather Service, the highest gust recorded so far was 147 mph which was recorded near Lake Tahoe.

The powerful storm system is fueled by the “Pineapple Express” that is delivering a steady stream of moisture directly from Hawaii to the West Coast.

There were flash flood in several parts of the Bay Area and some parts of major highways were closed due to flooding.

Photos, Video: Tornado-Like Wind Hit Pandamaran, Klang

NST reported that a severe thunderstorm and strong wind wreaked havoc in Pandamaran, damaging some 30 houses and apartment blocks.

A twister-like winds blew off roofs and uprooting trees around the area.

The thunderstorm also caused several boats at a jetty near Kunci Air Jalan Banting, Pandamaran to sink.

Several areas including Meru and Kampung Delek were flooded.
