UMNO leaders recognise the important role taken by the Malay/Muslim NGOs in strengthening the faith of the Muslims who are the core voters of UMNO.
During the opening speech of the of the assemblies of UMNO’s Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings, UMNO’s Deputy President said:
“Di samping itu, institusi-institusi Islam perlu diperkasa, penguatkuasaan undang-undang Islam perlu dipertegas dan kerjasama UMNO dengan NGO-NGO Islam perlu diperkukuh.” – Tan Sri Muhyiddin.
But unlike his UMNO bosses, UMNO Youth Vice Chief, Khairul Azwan or better known as Azwan Bro, seems to be really angry at the Malay NGOs that he made two statements against them; first, before the Perhimpunan Agung UMNO 2014, and again, during the Perhimpunan Agung UMNO.
In his first statement Azwan Bro told the senior UMNO leaders to share his sentiment towards the right-wing NGOs and in his second statement, he made a harsh and uncalled statement towards those NGOs, even calling them, “radical”.
“Kekeliruan ini menyebabkan persepsi yang disebut oleh Timbalan Perdana Menteri semalam apabila UMNO dilihat begitu lemah dan dipayungi oleh NGO radikal yang seolah-olah kita tidak ada langsung peranan dan tanggungjawab, bukankah selama ini kita mempertahankan kesucian agama Islam dan memperjuangkan untung nasib orang Melayu di negara kita.” – Azwan Bro/Utusan.
I guess he made the second statement to answer Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s statement about the weakness of Pemuda UMNO and to justify that they are the ones who are fighting for the Malays and Islam.
“Di mana taring Pemuda? Di mana ketegasan Wanita? Di mana kelantangan Puteri? Kesannya, kita seolahnya ketandusan pemimpin untuk menjuarai kepentingan orang Melayu. Sehinggakan timbul cakap-cakap di luar sana yang mengatakan NGO Melayu lebih lantang daripada UMNO dalam memperjuangkan hak dan kepentingan Melayu.” – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Azwan Bro must either:

Did not understand the statement made by his boss, or …

He decided to use the NGOs as the black sheep to cover his own weaknesses.
Either way, Azwan Bro’s statements are really unwise and stupid because:

It is too bad if he does not understand Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s statement, because the statement is so direct.

It is a bad idea to use the right-wing NGOs as the black sheep when those NGOs are the ones who helped UMNO so it is no use to put the blame on them.

Does he understand that UMNO is a right-wing party that fights for “agama, bangsa dan tanah air” as the right-wing NGOs?

Fighting against those NGOs means fighting against those who helped and voted for UMNO in the last General Election, and UMNO cannot afford to lose their votes.

That kind of arrogant statement will make those who may vote UMNO hate UMNO.

Being liberal is against UMNO’s constitution.

The liberals will not vote for UMNO.

Is it unwise to unnecessarily turning your supporters and allies into enemies when you really their help.
Instead of blaming others he must work harder and not only busy promoting the ‘#lifestyle’ that does not even shows the values of Muslim’s characters when the core voters of UMNO are the Malays.
It is very narrow-minded to think that being liberal, promoting the ‘#lifestyle’ and making enemies with the right-wing NGOs can bring more votes from the younger generation to UMNO because those who are liberals will not vote for UMNO but will vote for the left-wing and liberal parties.
I guess Azwan Bro must stop making those kind of silly statements because it is against the UMNO’s constitution to be liberal and it will only bring hatred to UMNO, like ‘shoot yourself in the foot’.
Please stop being a liability to UMNO.
